Fall 2023 Covid Positive Plans

Fall 23 Protocol for COVID Positive Students:

Students who test positive for Covid will need to send documentation of their positive test result to healthservices@setonhill.edu.  You will be required to isolate for at least a total of 5 days (Day 0 is the day you were tested),  have improved symptoms, and be fever free for 24 hours without medication before isolation may be discontinued.  Faculty and staff notifications will be sent to inform them when you will be cleared to return to class.

You are asked to wear a face mask for a total of 10 days. After you are through with isolation, it is extremely important that you continue to mask for 5 days.  We know that some people will still test positive after 5 days, therefore, wearing a mask for 5 additional days after you are released from isolation is very important so that you avoid infecting others.

It is very important that you notify your contacts that you tested positive for COVID.  Your contacts will need to mask for a total of 10 days from the day of their last contact with you and schedule a test with Health Services if they become symptomatic.  As a reminder, contacts are defined as someone you have been in close contact with (closer than 6 ft.) for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period with or without a mask regardless of COVID vaccination status. You should identify all contacts who you were with up until this point starting:

a.              2 days prior to your positive test if you are asymptomatic or

b.              2 days prior to the start of your symptoms if symptomatic

Please call or email Health Services if you have any questions or concerns.

Below is a sample email that you can send to your contacts:

You have been identified as a close contact. Anyone who is a close contact of a COVID positive individual must wear a mask around others for 10 days and test with Health Services if symptoms develop.  It is very important during this time that you avoid crowds and wear a mask.

If you need to schedule a COVID test with Health Services, please visit stay.setonhill.edu to schedule your test.

If your test is COVID-negative, you will need to continue to wear a face mask through day 10. If your test is positive, Health Services will contact you to discuss the isolation protocol with you.

Please email Health Services if you have any questions or concerns (healthservices@setonhill.edu).
